Privacy policy

What we collect

• Account: mobile number, the fact that a one-time password was verified, and your name. Email, photo, and a short bio only if you add them.
• Neighbourhood: the area you choose. If you tap “use current location”, your device may share a precise position so we can suggest that area. You can refuse or turn this off in the device settings. Discovery then uses the area you pick instead.
• Listings you create, photos, availability, the contact details you choose to show, and promotion requests or payment proofs you send us.
• Chat and communities: messages you send, photos or videos you attach, group membership, and related metadata needed to deliver chat.
• Safety actions: when you report or block someone, and related details we need to moderate.
• Use of Peple: searches, pages you open, and when you tap message, call, share, save, or report. We use this to run and improve discovery and chat, and to moderate.
• Device and log data needed to keep the service working, such as app version, IP address, and error reports.

How we use it

To create your account, show products, services, and businesses in the neighbourhood you picked, deliver Peple chat and groups, let people contact a listing the way the owner allowed, run optional promotions, handle reports, and protect the Platform. We do not use your data to sell advertising profiles.

Who else sees it

• Other people on Peple see your listing and the contact details you chose to publish. Peple chat stays in the app between the people in that conversation or group. If you tap Call on a listing, your phone app opens outside Peple. We do not publish your private account number to neighbours.
• Peple staff may access a message or attachment when investigating a report, a safety risk, or when the law requires it.
• SMS one-time passwords are sent through MSG91. They receive the mobile number only to deliver that code.
• Hosting, storage, and similar providers process data only so Peple can run. They are not allowed to use it for their own purposes.
• We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to investigate fraud, a report, or a risk to someone’s safety.

How long we keep it

We keep account, listing, and chat data while you use Peple. After you ask us to delete the account, we delete or anonymise personal data, except what we must keep for law, a safety report, or a short dispute window. Messages and attachments are kept while the chat or account exists, and may be kept a short time longer for safety or legal reasons. Payment proofs for a promotion are kept as long as we need them for that transaction and for tax or accounting duties.

Security

We use access controls and encryption in transit (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that it is.

Your choices

You may email [email protected] to:

• Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correct your name or profile
• Ask us to delete your account
• Object to a use that is not required to run your account

Inside the app you can change your area, edit what a listing shows, remove a saved item, block someone, adjust chat privacy, leave a group, and log out. You can refuse precise location in your device settings.

Children

Peple is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from a child. Write to [email protected] about a child-safety concern, or [email protected] if a minor has an account.

Where data is handled

Data is handled for Peple in India. A provider such as the SMS gateway may process a mobile number on systems outside India only as needed to send the one-time password. We do this under Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, where it applies.

Updates

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes. If you keep using Peple after that, the updated policy applies.
